Treating Diabetes Kansas cost about A $ 1.5 billion years

Health officials Kansas is raising awareness about the treatment of diabetes and its complications to mark National Diabetes month.

Diabetes affects nearly 27 million Americans and about 79 million people at risk for developing the disease.

More than eight percent of adults are Kansas, roughly 179,000, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 2010. Number of adults that are diagnosed with the condition to grow 42 percent in 10 years.

“With more Kansans to be affected by diabetes and its consequences on a daily basis, we must work together to better prevent, manage and treat this disease,” said Robert Moser, M.D., Secretary of KDHE and State health officer.

Treating diabetes United States costs around $ 174 billion a year. It will cost about $ 1.5 billion per year in Kansas.
