Thomas Cook plans to close about 200 travel agencies are in the high street moves that threaten more than 1,000 jobs.
The company has announced the closure of shops around 75 after the merger with the co-operative travel, but it is set to add another 125 on Thursday when it introduced the results of the review area operations UK.
Thomas Cook will be left with about 1,000 stores in the United Kingdom after the closure, which will be in several stages, with the staff redeployed elsewhere where possible.
To compound the crisis, Manny Fontenla-Novoa resigned suddenly as CEO in August, with his Deputy, Sam Weihagen, took over until a permanent replacement could be found.
