Columbia residents: be sure to boil water

Columbia, SC (WLTX)–The city of Columbia water works ask customers who live in the water bag Ford Rd, of Oak Hill Rd to Fernwood Rd, located in Richland County, hard boil their water.

City recommends boiling for at least one (1) a full minute before drinking or cooking. Also, each inhabitant near affected areas that have lost water or air pressure are also advised to hard Boil water for at least one (1) a full minute before drinking or cooking. Also, ice made from water which does not have boiled it should not be used for drinking purposes.

City of Columbia has experienced 6 “six inch water main break. This may be bacterial contamination of water in the Satchel Ford Rd from Oak Hill Rd to Fernwood Rd. Columbia city water works is currently working to fix the problem.

All food processors and restaurants must comply with the prescribed USDA and S.C. DHEC recommendations, respectively.
