Food is a substance that is consumed to provide nutritional support to the body. Usually the plant or animal origin, and contains important nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals. The substances ingested by organisms and assimilated by the organism’s cells in an effort to produce energy, maintains, and/or stimulate growth.

Historically, people are guaranteed food via two methods: hunting and gathering, and agriculture. Today, most of the food energy consumed by the world’s population is provided by the food industry, which is operated by multinational corporations which use intensive farming and agricultural industries to maximize the output of the system.

Food safety and food safety is monitored by bodies such as the International Association for food protection, World Resources Institute, World Food Programme, the food and Agriculture Organization, and the International Food Information Council. They discussed issues such as sustainability, biodiversity, climate change, economics of nutrition, population growth, water supply, and access to food.
